Gerald is my best friend. Well, he used to be my best friend. Now he is no more. He got killed in a tragic accident. I specifically told him not to sit on a certain forbidden bench but he was just too stubborn.

You see, I was in the park near our neighborhood one day and there was this bench somewhere in a dark area of the park. I could see a silhouette of a person sitting on that bench. I walked closer to the bench and the guy seemed to turn his head to look at me. He then vanished into thin air. I told myself that I was seeing things.

But later, my grandpa told me about the story of a middle-aged man who used to sit on that bench to smoke his pipe. He was grumpy and would get cross at anyone else who dared to sit on "his" spot. The said man passed away about 5 years ago, and people who have sat on that bench met with tragic disasters.

I was strolling in the park with Gerald one day and we were in that area. Gerald decided to sit on the bench. I told him not to and warned him about the story I heard from my gramps. He dismissed it as bogus and continued sitting on it. Then when we decided to go home, Gerald got hit by a Toyota van while crossing the road.

I am a guy who does not believe 100% in this kind of stuff, but still, if there is some kind of warning, I would play safe and heed to it. Gerald didn't...
