Ghost At A Ritual

As you may have heard before, ghosts are everywhere. They cannot be seen by the naked human eye, but they are around. They are around us, in front of us, behind us... And they are in numbers! But we cannot see, hear or touch them. We can just sense them, sometimes.

According to Buddhist teachings, such spirits are often attracted to rites, ceremonies or prayer events. They like to listen to prayers as those prayers can supposedly give them a sense of peace. However, some ghosts are set out to cause disturbances instead of just listen peacefully.

My dad is a member of a Buddhist society and is a committee member who often contributes to the activities of the society, especially when they are organizing special events. At one time, after the event commenced, his eye caught something unusual. A fellow member, who was praying at one of the lead positions on stage, was seen to be kicking at something.

So after the event, my Dad asked him, "What were you kicking at?"

The guy, who said he could see ghosts, replied, "There was a spirit hanging on to my leg and I had to get rid of it. It was interefering with the ritual. He brought with him lots of friends. It's a good thing he left..."
